Sean Bean Vs Viktor Frankenstein in ITV's "Frankenstein Chronicles"

Well being he’s the main character in this new take on the Frankenstein story we’re probably pretty guaranteed that Sean Bean isn’t going to die.  Which will give him a new streak of shows in which he survives.  Maybe that Twitter hashtag #dontkillseanbean did some good!

ITV was filming “The Frankenstein Chronicles” starting in January of this year and now A&E has picked up the 6 part series.

Set in London in 1827, it tells the story of police inspector John Marlott (aka Sean Bean) who is hunting down a killer who appears to be assembling humans from mutilated body parts in a copycat twist on the Frankenstein story.

It all begins when what is thought to be a child’s corpse is discovered during an investigation.  Marlott is horrified to discover that it’s in fact a grotesque assembly of human body parts.

Elaine Frontain Bryant, executive VP of programming for A&E, said: “‘The Frankenstein Chronicles’ uniquely merges classic elements from both the crime and horror genres, which pairs perfectly with A&E’s growing scripted slate.”

The show is executive produced by Tracey Scoffield (“Muhammad Ali’s Greatest Fight”) and Frank Doelger (“Game of Thrones”), and produced by David Tanner for Rainmark Films.

The cast also includes Anna Maxwell Martin (The Bletchley Circle), Charlie Creed Miles (Ripper Street), Steven Berkoff (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), Samuel West (Mr Selfridge), Tom Ward, Ed Stoppard, Elliot Cowan, Hugh O’Conor, Joe Tucker, Kate Dickie, Lalor Roddy, Patrick Fitzsymons and Richie Campbell.

The Frankenstein Chronicles will premiere on A&E sometime in 2016.
