Time to brush up on your ancient Greek literature as Hugh Jackman is in early talks to play Homer’s hero of The Odyssey.
Lionsgate announced the movie was in pre-production with Hunger Games alumni Francis Lawrence (director), Nina Jacobson (producer), and Peter Craig (writer) attached.
Written around the 8th Century B.C. by the poet Homer, The Odyssey, sequel to The Illiad, follows the Greek hero Odysseus as he tries to return home after the fall of Troy. He must face wrathful gods, cannibals, giants and cyclopes on his epic 10 year journey. His patient and loving wife and their son must fend off an army of suitors who want to marry the assumed widow.
Production is planned to begin in early 2016 with Erik Feig, Jim Miller and James Myers overseeing for Lionsgate.
