The story of Frankenstein has been told and retold since Mary Shelley first published it in 1818. Plays, movies, tv series have all taken on the task of telling the story of the monster made of sewn together human parts. A cautionary tale of what happens when scientists spend more time thinking about “could” than “should”.
In this new version James McAvoy plays Victor Frankenstein and Daniel Radcliffe is Igor. The story is told from the point of view of Igor who is not a horrible looking hunchback, although the movie hints that he was a crippled young man whom Frankenstein helps to walk again.
The whole piece is filled with gothic horror elements, rich costumes and appropriately disgusting body pieces that are not being glossed over in any romantic light as previous movies have done. Things spiral quickly out of control with the arrival of police searching for said missing body parts and a mysterious man who wants Frankenstein to build him an army.
Written by Max Landis (Chronicle) and directed by Paul McGuigan (Sherlock TV Series) Victor Frankenstein is set for release on November 25th, 2015
