RumourMill: Star Trek Experience to come back to Vegas?

On March 31st the famous Robin Leach posted a snippet in his column in the Las Vegas Sun that a new Star Trek Experience would be returning to the Strip sometime this year.

The latest is that Star Trek: The Experience that once lured Trekkies and alien characters to Las Vegas Hilton before it was acquired by Westgate Las Vegas will reopen at Linq Promenade this year.

While some wrote this off as an April Fool’s joke it is something to note that this was published the day before April 1st.

Of course the Star Trek Experience ran for 10 years between 1998 and 2008 at the Las Vegas Hilton.  It was scheduled to reopen in the Neonopolis Mall on May 8, 2009 in time for the premiere of JJ Abrams new take on the beloved franchise and for the 30th anniversary of the release of Star Trek: The Movie.  It was then pushed back to 2010, and then in 2011 it was announced that they had lost the license.

While it is an awesome idea and would make sense given that this is the 50th Anniversary year of Star Trek (and the biggest Star Trek Convention takes place every year in Las Vegas), at present The Linq Promenade has “no comment at this time regarding the Star Trek Experience.”
