Kingdom Hearts 3 Event Announced for D23 Japan

D23 was filled with all kinds of amazing news.  A lot of it having to do with Disney’s latest acquisition of Star Wars.  Well now it’s time for the fans of the long awaited Kingdom Hears 3 to have their moment in the sunshine at the D23 Japan Expo!

E3 showed us the title with some gameplay, it was confirmed that KH3 will have a Big Hero 6 world at D23 in Anaheim, and it will be the first Kingdom Hearts available on a Microsoft platform, but other than that there hasn’t been much about the game that has been nearly 10 years in development, not even a projected release date.

The Kingdom Hearts Premium Theater Event at D23 Japan Expo will presumably change some of that with interviews with special guests (hopefully people like  director Tetsuya Nomura, composer Yoko Shimamuro and some of the developers and voice actors) and new footage of gameplay in a talk show like atmosphere.

The event is being held twice on November 3rd to accommodate as many fans as possible and will last an hour and a half with the content being the same at both shows.  The times are 1pm-2:30pm and 4pm-5:30pm.  Unfortunately you can’t just buy a ticket outright, you have to enter a raffle for the chance to be there.  Entries cost 1,500 yen (around 12 dollars) and the entry period is  from September 15th to September 24th.  The winners will be announced on September 29th. You must have a Disney Japan account to enter.

In Kingdom Hearts 3 Sora returns and is joined by Donald Duck, King Mickey, Goofy, and Riku in searching for the seven guardians of light and the “Key to Return Hearts”, in an attempt to stop Master Xehanort’s plan to balance the light and darkness.
