Chris Pine is said to be possibly involved in a multi-film deal with the DC Universe. If he is playing the present incarnation of Steve Trevor, who was the head of A.R.G.U.S. and is now their highest-ranking field agent, and the liaison to the Justice League, then could this mean that he’s about to become the Agent Coulson or Nick Fury of the DC Universe ?
Agents of A.R.G.U.S. have shown up in “Flash” and “Arrow”, A.R.G.U.S. is also responsible for the Suicide Squad being put together and the head of A.R.G.U.S., Amanda Waller (played by Viola Davis), does appear. There have been rumors floating around the internet for awhile that Steve Trevor may make an appearance in it. Scott Eastwood was linked to that story in March but his IMDB remains noncommittal about who his character is in the movie. If Trevor is making an appearance in “Suicide Squad” than it will likely be Chris Pine we see enter.
The Justice League movie begins filming in early 2016, “Aquaman” is due in 2018 and he too is a member of the Justice League. It also seems that Batman v Superman isn’t necessarily through with their announcements of all the characters in it as there are now new rumors of Batgirl appearing – and as Wonder Woman has already been confirmed then it’s not out of the way to assume that Steve Trevor may make a brief appearance as well – maybe in a post credit scene.
Perhaps the reason that the announcement of the casting of Chris Pine as Steve Trevor was held off for so long was because they wanted his involvement in the DC Universe to be a mystery until they were ready with their line up of movies. We’re likely to see him around quite a bit and for a while.
