Netflix & DreamWorks Revive Voltron – first picture

Voltron is back and looking very, well, Voltron!

And I’m not complaining about that!

“We’re trying to keep as much of that classic feel to it as we can, because ultimately we have huge amounts of nostalgia for (the original) show,” – co-executive producer Lauren Montgomery.

Voltron was the top-rated syndicated children’s show for two years during its original run in the mid ’80s and was originally cut together from two Japanese anime Beast King GoLion and Armored Fleet Dairugger XV.

Produced by DreamWorks Animation, Legendary Defender will center on five Earth teenagers — Keith, Lance, Hunk, Pidge and Shiro — who are thrown into the middle of an intergalactic battle and become the last line of defense for Arus and other planets against an evil alien force led by King Zarkon.

The first 13 22-minute episodes of Netflix’s animated series will be released later in 2016.   There will be a sneak preview of the show today at WonderCon in Los Angeles, Calif.
