Attack on Titan Live Action Movie Trailer for US Release

Funimation has released The official Attack on Titan US Trailer.  For the hardcore fans the Japanese trailers have been out for months, so there’s nothing new to see here.  Based on the worldwide best selling manga and anime the live action Attack on Titan Part 1 was released in Japan on August 1 with Part 2 coming on September 19th.  They also had their World Premiere in Hollywood on July 14th to a packed audience.

Since it’s Japanese release there have been mixed reviews about this version of the story directed by Shinji Higuchi.   Something I have seen many people mention is that the story must change since one of the key points of Mikasa’s and Eren’s back story is that she is one of the few Japanese (1/2 Japanese) still alive.  While this may be one of the main plot points in the manga and anime, it honestly doesn’t affect the overall telling of the story.  Mikasa is still one of the best and most dedicated fighters in the Corp.  Eren’s father already knew Mikasa’s family.  So the circumstances of their meeting can be altered without affecting the present story.  But it would change their back story, if the movie bothers to touch on that.  Also a few of the characters seem to have been combined for brevity of the story.

You can decide for yourself when the two part movie is released in the U.S. on September 30th and October 20th, 2015 in limited release.  Attack on Titan Parts 1 & 2 were written by Yusuke Watanabe and stars Haruma Miura and Kiko Mizuhara.  It will be in Japanese with English subititles.
