Star Wars IX & Indiana Jones 5 Release Dates

The Walt Disney Company and Lucasfilm have announced two major upcoming release dates.

The as yet untitled Star Wars: Episode IX is now set for release on May 24, 2019. Directed by Colin Trevorrow, (Jurassic World) the film will close out the third Star Wars trilogy.  We already know that while a script had not been written there was a shift in direction because of Carrie Fisher’s sudden death this past December.  “Obviously, when Carrie passed away in December, that was a huge blow for all of us and it caused us to sit with Colin and really rethink where we’re headed with Episode IX.”  – Kathleen Kennedy.  It has been said that there was going to be a scene in which Leia confronts her son, Kylo Ren – which also lets us know that he survives to the final film.

While General Leia appears prominently in Episode VIII they will not be dealing with her death in that movie.

In addition to the Star Wars news, the fifth chapter of the Indiana Jones series is now confirmed for a July 10, 2020 release. Both Steven Spielberg, director of every Indiana Jones film, and star Harrison Ford will return.
