Mark Hamill's Tribute to Carrie Fisher

“When someone you love becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure.”

I don’t think Mark Hamill could have spoken anything more true and deeply emotional to the audience in attendance both physically and virtually at the Carrie Fisher Tribute at Star Wars Celebration.

It was an hour of seeing her through the eyes of someone who loved her like a sister.  Someone who knew her and grew up with her in front of the eyes of the world.

“Here’s a panel I was hoping wouldn’t come for another 30 years.”  He opened up the emotional hour as he sat down with his notes.

“I have been trying to deal with this…you know there are the 5 stages of grief.  And just when I think I’ve gotten to acceptance, I bounce back to anger.  Because I’m mad!  She should be here!

She made every Celebration so much more fun.  She deserved to be here….I’m still not thinking of her in past tense.”

Not something to be transcribed and read this panel has to be experienced.

“Carrie wouldn’t want us to be consumed by grief.  She was all about having fun.”
